College Street Style: Erika Muir

I’m back.

Heading into midterms brings about a couple thoughts…

We are halfway through this semester and that much closer to summer,

but it also brings about the stress that comes along with the inevitable late night study sessions.

But despite the drab weather and the rising pressure of midterms and all they entail,

Sophomore Erika Muir has managed to stay looking fab on the George Fox campus.

Who or what inspires you? I am really inspired by poetry. One of my major outlets is writing and reflecting on how I am feeling. I love taking raw emotion and making something completely new and beautiful out of it.

Where do you like to shop? “My absolute favorite place to shop is H&M. They always have something so true to my unique and personal style. I also really enjoy target, they have the best shoes. For jewelry, I shop at Charming Charlie, where I work back home. Their jewelry is trendy, comes in so many different types and categories, is reasonably priced, and I get a discount! Lastly, I love Pulp and Circumstance- a local shop here in town. It’s a specialty store with unique jewelry and the best stationary. It’s like Pinterest exploded, which is one of the best things that could ever happen to man kind!”

Where is your outfit from? “Sweater: Charming Charlie- where I work back home, pants: H&M, shoes: target, jacket: H&M, rings: both from Charming Charlie, necklace: pulp and circumstance.”

How would you describe your personal style? “I would say it is trendy with some vintage undertones. I also appreciate an urban style with a free spirited, hippie vibe- I sometimes partake in those looks as well. I mostly wear jewel tones because they compliment my skin tone, hair, and eye color. I also prefer comfort over all things. Knit sweaters and leggings are my best friends.”

Why did you choose this outfit? “I liked the way the colors worked together, from the sweater and pants, to the shoes, to the gold of the necklace. Throwing in the lace gave a more feminine touch to a casual outfit. I chose the jewelry for a more unique reason. The key necklace says, “Live to Give”, I wear this as a reminder to put others before myself and remember how important it is to serve the people around me. The ring that I wear with a bow on it reminds me to care for myself and appreciate who I am as an individual.”

Who are your favorite designers? “I like Betsy Johnson for her unique, edgy, yet feminine designs. For shoes, Steve Madden has my heart. I really enjoy Herschel for their bags, they are modern with a vintage twist. Kate spade has the most beautiful watches!”

Any favorite trends? “I am really liking the Birkenstocks, open back sweaters, trends with hair: all things braids, bold lip colors, wool socks, knitted/crochet head bands, simple, delicate necklaces.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be? “Lauren Conrad. I love her style. It’s classy, trendy, feminine and very tasteful.”

Erika’s outfit is a perfect combination of “always a good idea” comfort with fresh feminine accents.

The lace on her sweater and gold jewelry add that flare to the overall look.

Oregon’s rainy weather always welcomes a nice sweater and a good pair of combat boots to walk from class to class.

Erika owns her style while adding special accessories to really make it her personalized.

Her radiant personality shines through, and she rocks her look around campus.

Let’s take these approaching midterms by storm, and still look good doing it.

Stay stylish and things of that nature…

Time is a mysterious thing.

It goes by slowly when you wish it would speed up…

and goes by way too fast when you’re having fun.

How much sense does that make?

I’ve been thinking about time a lot lately.

My first semester of my senior year of college is just about up.

We have finals week left and then we are free!!

Christmas Break cannot come soon enough.

This last week has been full of “stuff”.

Projects, presentations and papers. The usual.

All the things that get left to the last week of school.

Time management has been my best friend this last week.

Literally. I couldn’t hangout with many real friends because I needed to get stuff done.

I made lists off all the things I needed to do and when I needed to have them done by.

One of the best feelings in the world is being able to cross things off a list.

Such a satisfying feeling as you see your list get smaller and smaller.

I am happy to say I have made it through this week unscathed and managed to cross off my entire list.

Although I was worried at the beginning.

It’s like I like to stress myself out or something.

But I had no other choice. I had to get it all done.

I had to make every minute count.

Time is a weird thing.

Even now as I’m writing this post I have spent too much time staring at the blank screen as I go on Facebook or become distracted by something else.

Where has the time gone?

This next semester will only go by faster I’m sure of it.

That’s scary.

Kind of sad.

Life runs off time.

We have to wake up at a certain time. Go to class by a certain time.

We have deadlines and times when things are due.

We are strapped to the clock. To the grind.

Sometimes I just want to throw my hands in the air and give up.

I really felt that this last week.

But I didn’t give up.

Honestly I wouldn’t let myself.

I couldn’t.

I want to make the most of this time.

I don’t want to take it all for granted.

This time here in college with friends I have grown so close too.

Being in this stage in life where you aren’t to the “real world” yet and you just get to hangout with friends all the time.

As much as I want to graduate, I know I will miss this time.

Time is a strange thing.

Something that I don’t have enough time to think about right now.

On to the next thing.

Enjoy your time today and things of that nature…

You won’t get it back.

Campus Character.

With Fall semester coming to a close, it’s hard to muster up the motivation sometimes to stay on track with all your classes.

I know that all I have on the brain right now is Christmas break!

But who doesn’t?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Walking around campus has turned into a slow run, since the temperature outside has dropped to what feels like freezing and you just cant seem to get inside fast enough.

It was nice to see Tiffany Burk rocking a skirt despite the frigid weather.

What are your hobbies? “Participating in college sports (volleyball, track & field), reading, photography, listening to music, hanging out with friends, making people laugh.”
Who or what inspires you?
“Blake Lively – because she is simply gorgeous and her style choices, both glamorous and street, make her a true icon.  Most people don’t know that Blake is one of the few celebrities who does not have a stylist, which makes her style choices even that much more magnificent, in my opinion.  Her style is 100% her own.  She has an apt for picking pieces that suit her body and show off long legs, which I’ve always admired, since we have similar body proportions.”
Where do you like to shop?
“Marshalls, Ross, Aritzia, Forever 21, H&M.”
Where is your outfit from?
Top – American Eagle
Skirt – Marshalls
Shoes – Payless
How would you describe your personal style?
“When I’m not dressed in athletic wear or lazy garb (i.e. sweatpants and a t-shirt), I’ve always been of the mind:  less is more.  A lot of my wardrobe is black, supplemented with grey, white, navy, blues, and some brown; all solid colors, excepts for a few pieces that have a bit more color thrown in here and there.  I prefer simple classics and “classics with a twist” in high quality.  I like to build my wardrobe on basics that will last for years.  My philosophy is to focus not true classics and more unusual pieces that won’t be easily dated.”
Why did you choose this outfit?
“Because I love the skirt, honestly.  I have a tendency to pick one statement piece, so to speak, and then work the rest of the outfit around what I want to wear most.”
Who are your favorite designers?
“Chanel, she was a genius.  She redefined femininity and proved women could do whatever they wanted.
Gaultier, he took Chanel’s obsession with Masculinity/Femininity and proved to the next level and mixed it with his wit.
Dior, he was absurdly brilliant.  He constantly reinvented himself and pushed fashion forward.  The A & Y lines he created are classic.
McQueen, he turns the macabre into the beautiful and mixes it with mind bending technique.”
Any favorite trends?
“I really like statement pants!  I don’t have any because it’s extremely hard to find pants that fit me correctly, but I really like ones that are rendered in bold prints, unconventional cuts, and statement-making fabrics (think brocade and silk dupioni).”
If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be?
“Sorry, but I have to give it to Blake Lively again on this one.  Everything about her is just so elegant and put together!”
The Top/Skirt
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
I am a huge fan of stripes.
They are a fun print to add attitude to any outfit.
I love the bold colors in Tiffany’s top that contrasts with the denim in her skirt.
I liked that she high waisted the skirt a bit to give it a more dramatic look.
The buttons down the front of the skirt makes it more dynamic and gives it texture.
It adds an element of surprise; something for the eye to see.
The Shoes
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
Tiffany’s metallic flats are attention grabbers.
Metallics are way in right now and add that perfect shine to her look.
Flats are a great comfortable, practical and fashionable shoe.
Great for wearing around campus; to and from classes.
They transition well from day to night.
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
Tiffany took what would be a summer skirt and made if “Fall/Winter appropriate” by layering it with tights.
Who says you cant wear skirts when it’s cold outside?!
Fashionista’s don’t fear the weather; we just adapt to it.
Pain is beauty.
Unless it’s Monday, then sweats definitely win.
Stay stylish and things of that nature…

Be always Thankful.

For this post I wanted to take a minute and just talk about things I’m thankful for.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I thought it would be most appropriate.

I see all these posts on Facebook from friends saying what they’re thankful for; and I’ve been inspired.

I want to start off by saying I am thankful for a loving and gracious God.

It’s because of Him that I am able to do everything.

It’s actually because of Him I have things to be thankful for.

He has blessed my life beyond what I could ever imagine.

It’s because of Him that I am where I am in life.

He has perfect timing and is always faithful.

It’s a huge blessing to be at the school I am, getting the education that I’m getting and meeting the people I ‘m meeting.

I am thankful for a school that has professors that actually want to get to know you on a personal level.

Your education and success is their success. They want to be apart of your journey.

They want to see you succeed and pick you up when you don’t.

Or at least give you the tools to pick yourself up.

I haven’t experienced this type of educational setting before I came to college and I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way.

I am thankful for my family.

My loud, crazy, encouraging, supportive, hilarious, loving, safe, sometimes frustrating, family.

I couldn’t think of doing life without them and miss them every day I’m at school.

I am who I am because of them.

I get my sass from my mother, my awesome dance moves from my father, and my patience or lack there of, from my brother.

My mom is my best friend, my dad is my strong shoulder to lean on, and my brother is almost cooler than I am.

Almost. Actually he’s totally cooler than I am.

One of my favorite hobbies is texting them. Yeah, I said it.

Home is where they are.

I am thankful for my boyfriend, Josh.

He is such a blessing and it seems too good to be true sometimes.

He loves the Lord, and we just have way too much fun together.

He always makes me laugh. And smile.

We share a mutual love for Harry Potter and The Hunger Games.

He brings me coffee and flowers…all on his own.

He has the best smile around, and gives me butterflies all the time.

He is a true gentleman.

I don’t know how I got so lucky.

He’s a keeper.

I am thankful for my best girl friends.

A girls gotta have her girls.

My girl Christine is such a genuine, loving, loud person.

We met last year, live together this year, and basically plan to live together for the rest of our lives.

She likes to braid my hair and listen to country music.

She is a painting prodigy and I can’t draw to save my life.

I’ve heard all her stories… more then once, and she’s heard mine.

She loves Jesus and it shines through her being.

We enjoy joy rides and adventuring.

She’s my soul sister.

Lauren. This gem.

My partner in crime.

My dance partner.

My singing partner.

My keeper of secrets.

My advice giver.

My puzzler and ultimate gamer.

The girl I can come to with anything and everything.

She’s my other soul sister.

Lisa. This lady.

I can really be myself around Lisa.

We’ve perfected the ugly face pictures and have a plethora of inside jokes and weird phrases.

I’ve laughed more then enough laughs to last a lifetime when I’ve been around her.

We made a music video; with Christmas lights. I know what you’re thinking, legit.

We get each other.

We became friends at literally the most perfect time in our lives and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I am really blessed to be able to call them my friends.

I am thankful for my health and well-being.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis my sophomore year of high school and thought my life was over.

But I have been super blessed to have little to no complications since then.

God is so good.

I am a healthy 22 year old who is fully able, with only the occasional case of “crazy college student”.

At least it’s better than Bieber fever. Yuck.

I am thankful for my freedom.

Freedom to express myself.

Freedom to be myself without fear.

Freedom to believe in what I want to believe in.

Freedom to go where I want to go.

Freedom really isn’t free and I am thankful for those who have gone before us and who are currently fighting for our freedom.

I am thankful to be able to dance.

This is my element.

The music just pumping through my ear buds.

Nothing else matters.

Just feel, and react.

I am thankful for the gift of rhythm.

It is my escape.

I may be a white girl but I can get jiggy wit it.

I could honestly keep going, but for sake of time and length of this post I will say the end.

I encourage all of you to stop and count your blessings.

It turns any bad day into one full of appreciation and happiness.

We all have so much to be thankful for and things of that nature…

The Carrie Diaries.

I decided to take a break from my usual Campus Character profiles for this week.

But I must admit I have been spending a lot of time on Hulu lately.

I’m sure most of you can relate right about now.

The amount of time I’ve spent on Hulu has inspired this post.

One show I am absolutely obsessing over is “The Carrie Diaries.”

This is the ultimate 80’s throwback show and such a powerhouse when it comes to wardrobe.

I seriously fall in love with Carrie Bradshaw’s, (the main character) outfit each week.

Not only is she an intern at a fashion magazine on the show; which is a dream of mine, she also lives this glamorized life in New York City.

Even though I am a 90’s child through and through, this show makes me see the 80’s in a whole new light.

And gain a whole new level of appreciation for their clothes and things of that nature.

Each week I tune in to see what awesome dress she’ll be wearing or which awesome purse she gets to tote around.

Or how her curly hair seems to stay perfectly in place…all the time.

She always manages to mix floras, sparkle, animal prints, and solids together so effortlessly.

I am afraid that I would be too nervous to have all that going on.

The sequin dress is quite the attention grabber.

I could just imagine wearing that on campus…yeah right.

I feel like these clothes may be a bit exaggerated; I’m sure not all of the 80’s looked this bright and flashy.

But seriously, that skirt she has paired with the fuchsia jacket is pretty major.

I wouldn’t mind living her life for a day or two.

The show manages to stay true to the 80’s with scrunchies here and there, layered plastic bracelets, high waisted pants.

Of course there is no shortage of puffy dresses, chunky belts, and big hair.

An iconic accessory is the paint splattered, “Carrie” purse which has certainly made  a name for itself on the show.

This super edgy purse is sort of like the new initial pendants some girls wear around their neck.

Personalized handbags.

Maybe it’ll be the next big thing.

Who doesn’t want an awesome personalized bag?

I think I’m going to go to goodwill, see what bags I can find, buy some paint and go to town.

Who’s with me?!

Let’s bring the 80’s back.

After all, history often repeats itself and things of that nature…

It’s crazy to think we are coming to a close on week ten here at school.

Where has the time gone?!

Thanksgiving break will be here before we know it.

Starbucks has their holiday cups out; all is right with the world again.

This week Victoria caught my eye with her outfit of choice.

I enjoy her bold choices and her always classic looks.

I always love what she has on and decided to feature her this week.

Get the low down…

What are some of your hobbies: “Reading, running, watching movies, singing, playing piano, thrift store shoppin’, exploring new places, spending time with friends and family.”

Who or what inspires you? “Successful business women and mothers! Anyone who is passionate about their careers, hardworking, and cares about other people. I’m inspired by the past – old movies, music, fashion; just the general lifestyle. Currently, though, my most inspirational fashion icon is the Duchess of Cambridge AKA Kate Middleton. I follow her like a hawk :).”

Where do you like to shop? “I love thrifting! Antique stores, thrift stores, garage sales,… really, that’s where at least 50% of my wardrobe comes from! When I’m feeling like buying new stuff, I love classic-style stores: Ann Taylor, J. Crew, and the Gap.”

Where is your outfit from? “A combination of thrift store, department store, and Ebay finds 🙂 My jewelry is a combination of gifts and my mother’s and grandmother’s jewelry.”

How would you describe your personal style? “Vintage-inspired, preppie classic that is usually directly inspired by a certain time era or movie character. Every day I am a new character, depending on what I’m wearing.”

Why did you choose this outfit? “I wanted to wear my Docs, so I built my outfit around them. I love my Docs because of the juxtaposition of the boot itself (which is very masculine, industrial, and aggressive) and its feminine print (white with pink Portland roses). I  kept that masculine-meets-feminine theme with a white men’s shirt and jean jacket, and then distinctly feminine items; flower print skinny jeans and a bow headband. It’s very 1990s meets prep.”

Who are your favorite designers? “I love Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, Christian Dior, and Jenny Packham.”

Any favorite trends? “I tend not to follow trends because I wear vintage styles 🙂 which are not in trend haha!”

If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be? “Grace Kelly, without a doubt!”
The Shoes
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I love her Doc Martens. I wish I had a pair myself.

They are so Portland.

The feminine print contrasts nicely to the hefty boot.

Super durable and great for rainy days.

You can pair them not only with  a nice pair of jeans but tights and a dress.

Take that feminine/ manly contrast even farther with a skirt or dress.

The Pants

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Her pants are what initially caught my eye.

The great royal blue color stands out and is a statement color.

Then when you get closer you can appreciate the floral print on the jean.

Playing with prints not only in the jean, but on the shoe as well.

The Jacket

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

A good white button up shirt is a staple piece for anyone’s wardrobe.

You can do so much with it.

I like how Victoria paired with a jean jacket.

Jean jackets are making a comeback people!

Get on it.

The white lays nicely next to the royal blue.

They create an eye catching color combination.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I love Victoria’s classic looks around campus.

She may think vintage styles aren’t trending, but in my opinion a vintage find is always on trend.

The past always seems to repeat itself.

The same is very true with fashion.

Maybe I’ll go out and buy a pair of Docs now.

I’ve been inspired; I hope you have too.

Have a fabulous weekend and things of that nature…

When walking around a college campus in Oregon there is something you don’t see very often: cowboy boots.

But there is one girl you can find walking around a college campus in Oregon in cowboy boots.

Just about everyday.

She has just a few pairs and has really created a style and personal look for herself.

“Hanging out with friends, making new friends, going on adventures, painting, woodworking, pottery, hiking, horseback riding, gardening, talking about Jesus, singing, sunflowers, playing guitar, line-dancing, going on joy-rides in my pickup through the country, painting my nails, fishing, camping, and anything you can do outdoors!”

Who or what inspires you?

“I am inspired by the beautiful simple things in life; the colors of fall, a good conversation with a friend, being in God’s incredible creation.  I am also inspired by genuine people and I love hearing their stories.”

Where do you like to shop?

“I love shopping at Anthropology and Urban Outfitters (when there is a sale rack), but I also love the treasure hunt of finding great things at thrift stores like Goodwill.  I like the challenge of looking nice without draining my bank account.  After all, I am a poor college student!”

Where is your outfit from?

Shirt: Urban Outfitters
Jeans: Francesca’s
Boots: Goodwill
Rings: Saturday market and rejects from Grandma’s collection
How would you describe your personal style?
“I love cowgirl boots (I have seven pairs) and flannel.  I suppose I have a “country” kind of style.  I also love to be comfortable but look nice at the same time.  When it comes to jewelry I stick to wearing rings and I have quite the collection!  When it is warmer outside sundresses and sandals are my friend.  Also you cant go wrong with lace!  Love that stuff.”
Why did you choose this outfit?
“I chose this outfit because it is comfortable and I feel good wearing it.  Flannel, boots and a scarf feel nice on a cold day.  There’s no way I am gonna catch a cold this fall!!  I also wear three to four rings at a time on an average day, so if I got in a fight… I’d win.”
Who are your favorite designers?

I really love Anthropology.  If I could only wear clothes from one store for the rest of my life this would be the store hands down!”
Any favorite trends?

I love that cowgirl boots are in now.  I have always loved them so it is a bonus that they are actually in style now!!”
If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be?

“Anna Bramson’s closet.  This girl has got style.  If I had to have a plan B I would go with raiding my sister Breanne’s closet because she is quite the fashionista herself and her closet is twice the size of mine.  You better believe there’s some gold in there.”
I had nothing to do with that last answer…for the record.
It’s really what she said.

Cowboy boots are great boots for fall. They can be layered over denim, tights, leggings.
You can also add a pair of fun boot socks for a little more sass.
Your options are endless.
They are also durable shoes; sure to keep your feet dry walking across a wet campus.
The Flannel
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Who doesn’t like a good flannel?!

You can never go wrong layering a flannel for extra warmth on these cool fall days.
Paring it with a good denim pant; it’s it a win/win.
It’s also a perfect look for Christine’s love for the outdoors.
A good flannel makes me think of camping, roasting marshmallows and having a good time with friends.
The accessories
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
I’m  a huge fan of rings.
Hand bling.
These turquoise rings add a pop of color to Christine’s outfit.
Adding a little bit of personality to any outfit can be achieved by using some fun accessories.
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
Christine’s love for nature and the great outdoors is evident in her choice of outfit.
It makes me want to curl up in front of a bonfire or go for a good hike with friends.
I think  everyone should just start wearing cowboy boots.
Well maybe not everyone.
Don’t want to get ahead of myself here.
Anyways, it’s Halloween friends!
Go out and have a fun and safe night.
Stay stylish and things of that nature…

With the fog rolling in, the reality of the gray days here in Oregon are becoming more of a reality.

I knew this day would come, but I was hoping to post pone it for as long as possible.

But when I saw Chloe wearing a pair of shorts, it gave me hope that maybe the sun would stick around a while longer.

Or at least we could all have some wishful thinking.

Because after all, who doesn’t like that?!

Get the low down…

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Name: Chloe Shostak

Year: Junior

Major: Major in Studio Arts with a Minor in Fashion

Hobbies: “I love being outside–bike riding, swimming, or hiking. I also love to read and to draw. Mostly I love to laugh.”

Who or what inspires you? “I’m inspired by the world around me whether it be the beautiful natural life or different cultures from around the world.”

Where do you like to shop? “I don’t have a specific place or places I love to shop. I mostly just am always looking for that piece that really draws my attention, and that piece could be anywhere. It could be a thrift store, my mom’s closet, Anthroplogie, Forever 21, Target–just anywhere. But I always love a good deal!”

Tell me about your outfit. Where is it from? “My outfit is from a bunch of different places. The sweater used to be my great aunt’s from the 1950’s. The shirt is from Free People, and the shorts are from Madewell. The shoes are from Target.”

How would you describe your personal style? “My personal style is really just whatever I’m in the mood for. There are days I feel fancy, and that’s how I dress. There are days that I feel grungy, and that is exactly how I convey myself to the world through dress. I can’t say that I have pinpointed an exact style because so many types inspire me.”

Why did you choose this outfit? “I chose this outfit because I really like the golden yellow and the light blue together. As for the shorts, there are just days when I really want to wear shorts–even if it is really cold!” 🙂

Who are your favorite designers? “My favorite designers are Mara Hoffman for her fantastic mix of prints and Elie Saab because I think he has exquisitely simple designs that are beautifully embellished.”

Any favorite trends? “I can’t recall any favorite trends. I just see what’s out there and do it if I like it.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be? “I would raid… Audrey Hepburn’s closet. So simple and so classy and so much Givenchy! I would also raid an Indian woman’s closet. Is that weird? The saris are just too wonderfully colorful!”

 The Boots

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

These boots have some attitude to them.

They aren’t your moms old boots.

They sort of have a cowgirl vibe with some edge.

The Cardigan, Shirt and Shorts

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

So her awesome cardigan caught my attention with the awesome detailing.

The gems give it a playful touch and really give it a unique feel.

I don’t know anyone else who has that cardigan.

I am a fan of the golden yellow color. Really fun for Fall.

And did I say it was vintage! How cool!

Straight from the 1950’s. So classic.

The cardigan is a great layering piece over the stripped top.

Stripes are always a good choice in my book.

You can pair stripes with solid colors and add some pattern to your look.

The frayed denim shorts give it a relaxed feel; and denim goes with anything.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Chloe says her style is whatever she is in the mood for that day; and I think this day she rocked it.

Super fun colors, prints, and jewels.

You can’t go wrong with jewels.

I want to go out and find my and embellished cardigan.

Or I’ll just go buy a plain one and bedazzle it myself.

Bedazzle…such a great word.

Anyways, it’s Friday.

Gotta get down on Friday.

Stay stylish and things of that nature…

It’s October, friends.

You know what that means: pumpkin flavored everything, wearing layers on layers, crisp fall mornings and Halloween is just around the corner.

The leaves are starting to change and campus couldn’t be looking more festive.

When I saw Kali, she was comfy and casual for a cool fall day, but she was still summer dreaming.

We made our way to Coffee Cottage, got some lovely drinks, and caught up on life.

Who or what inspires you: Probably the great outdoors and my need for comfy-ness at all times. I’m a country girl at heart so if it’s not an outfit that I could potentially wear around the farm, I probably don’t wear it that often. I love being outside and looking cute at the same time!

Where do you like to shop?:I honestly can’t think of a place I don’t like to shop. Right now my favorite places are Urban Outfitters, North Face, and Levis.

Tell me about your outfit. Where is your outfit from:

Sweater: Gap
Basic-t: Kohls and patterned pocket added by me.

Why did you choose this outfit: I’m having a hard time getting away from summer and this is typically what I wear around the bonfire on summer evenings.
Any favorite trends right now: My favorite trend that comes back every fall is plaid shirts layered under a warm vest!
If you could raid anyone’s closet who’s would it be:  Jennifer Aniston. She seems so classy and comfy all in one.

The Sweater/Tee/Jeans:
Kali had a playful mix of colors and prints.
Her bright tee caught my eye and the fun pocket was an awesome touch to add that little bit of “city flare” Kali likes to go for.
It’s even better that she added it herself!
The gray cardigan pairs well with the tee, and gives her that little extra warmth walking around Newberg on a chilly day.
The Levi’s were a great basic casual denim, that would go well with any top.
They were cuffed at the bottom of course.

The Accessories:
Kali was sporting all silver jewelry when I saw her.
Her various rings were from vacation trips she’s gone on and her bracelet she purchased on Etsy.
It’s a cute story…she and one of her friends both got one with the others initial on it.
Cute friends!
The bracelets say, “stuck in her daydream” from the song “A-Team” by Ed Sheeran.

The Shoes:
Her earthy toned TOMS added that great touch of nature to her outfit.
It emphasized her love for the outdoors and her casual style.
A great practical shoe for walking around campus or if she were out with friends.

The bag:
This bag with its fantastic detail was a gift from her father from Brazil.
I wish I had a bag from Brazil.
I actually just want to go to Brazil.
Who’s with me?!
I think Kali encompasses casual college style while still being able to express herself.
She kept her causal comfy side while still keeping it fashionable and trendy.
Her outfit is perfect for a day of classes or going out and hanging with friends at a coffee shop or walking down Main Street in Newberg.
She could probably even walk around the farm in this outfit.

Well, as the days get colder, the clothes get warmer.
Layers people, more layers!
This is just about the only time it’s appropriate to wear as many shirts… under your sweater… with your scarf… as you want!
Fall is here and I couldn’t be more happy about it.
Go out and be inspired.
Go try and sew on your own fun pocket on a basic tee you have laying around.
I just might.
Stay stylish and things of that nature…

Sweater weather is better weather. Naturally.

Fall means a few things to me…

For starters, we are getting closer to Christmas.

I know it’s still a ways off. Wishful thinking.

Pumpkin flavored things are everywhere and they are the best things.

Mornings are colder and the friendly fog is hanging around.

It also becomes very hard to wake up in the morning because you’d rather stay in your warm bed.

The leaves are changing colors making the outdoors pretty festive looking.

Bold rich colors fill campus and Oregon is looking as beautiful as ever.

Even when it rains, you cant be mad.

Because its Fall and it just gets prettier outside when its rainy.

Coffee shops become your natural habitat; because there’s something about Fall that makes it necessary to drink like 5 cups of coffee a day.

Am I right?!

What’s more fun then sitting inside a warm coffee shop when its cold and wet outside?

I think nothing.

Okay, there are things but I cant think of them right now.

Oh yeah and this:

sweater15Sweater weather is better weather.

Getting cozy in an oversized chunky knit sweater is one of my joys in life.

You can never go wrong with a sweater over leggings or a pair of jeans.

You can even pair a sweater with a dress or skirt.

Add some fun tights, killer boots, and you’re on your way.

Sweaters are for everyone.

They don’t discriminate.

The bigger the better.

Sweaters come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and prints.

Making your options just about endless.

Keep it casual or dress up a sweater.

A pair of skinny jeans and heels add some class to a typical casual sweater.

Don’t be afraid to try bold colors and patterns.

Be a fearless fashionista from time to time.

Embrace color and pattern.

I know you can do it.

Sweaters are the ultimate article of comfy clothing.

They are our safe place.

When we need to feel warm and safe.

Sweaters are always there for us.

Yeah, I just got really deep about sweaters.

Who knew a sweater could mean all that?

They are like the comfort food for the outside of the body.

You can never own too many sweaters.

Think about the next sweater you’re going to wear.

Have fun with it.

Go out and buy a sweater you may not normally wear, or choose to wear.

Be creative.

Be bold.

Be warm.

Be Fall festive and things of that nature…
